The annual gala is a weekend of great fun and happiness and a special time for reunion, celebration and an opportunity to raise funds to continue our projects in The Gambia. It is a festive occasion to mingle, reminisce and reconnect with all our brothers and sisters from the USA and all parts of the world like United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Canada, and Africa.

Funds raised through this endeavor go directly to support the following projects:

a)  Scholarships awarded to smart and needy students in The Gambia. To date, we have successfully awarded more than 150 scholarships to the University of The Gambia, tertiary institutes and secondary and primary schools. Four of these scholarships were awarded this year to SAHS and SJHS students as The Father Joseph Gough Student-Athlete Scholarships in recognition of your invaluable service to the Gambia.

b)  Cover shipping and operational costs for our the annual clothing drive to collect and ship clothes, shoes, educational materials and toys to needy families in the Gambia

c)  The annual contribution for the renovation program of Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral which we have adopted as our home church in The Gambia.

GCPA-DC Scholarship Program had awarded numerous scholarships that are dedicated to specific causes in The Gambia. Namely:

The Fr. Joseph Gough Student-Athlete Scholarship dedicated to students at Saint Augustine’s and Saint Joseph’s Senior Secondary Schools.
